Durable and Useful
I wasn't sure if I should purchase a riddle, but I am more than happy that I did. I have used it to plant trees and it has saved me a lot of time from manually picking rocks out of the soil. The riddle is great weeds/vegetative material from the soil. I have sifted a lot of very rocky soil using this riddle and it has held up very well. The grid is a good all purpose size for removing most rocks. The little extra cost is more than worth it.

Very well made, does the job and…
if you’re willing to cut the center out of two 5-gallon bucket lids and glue them top-to-top, you’ll have a very secure bucket-top strainer that fits 3.5, 5, and 7 gallon buckets (they all share the same lid size).

Good but could be better
Used it for sifting rocks out of loam. Got the job done. Could be better if it were to sit flush with the top of a 5 gallon bucket. 4 stars - would be 5 if it was a spec smaller to be flush with standard Lowe's or HD 5 gal bucket.

durable and effective
sifted 8-12 cubic feet of soil over the course of a year with my toddler. it was very slow, and maybe not the right tool for that volume, but it was therapeutic and a great activity for a 2 year old to "help" with while we played in the dirt together. Soil was rocky, and I pulled about a truck bed's worth of small rocks out of my garden beds. Absolutely worth it. The riddle shows some signs of wear but is as strong as the day I bought it. I now use it to sift compost. Wish they made another one with a small sieve so I could produce soil for starting seeds

Super quality, but there's larger mesh riddles out there
I bought two brands to compare them side by side. Both the Spear & Jackson and Lainballow ones are really nice! The Spear & Jackson one was a tiny bit deeper (if depth is important to you). But the one made by Lainballow has wider holes (and a free shovel!) ... The larger mesh was exactly what I was looking for, so I ended up returning the Spear & Jackson sifter. What made me want wide mesh? I found a review video of someone sifting soil with a 12" riddle. There's an endless amount of arm movement needed (especially with the 1/4" mesh). No thanks!Of course, both these brands have bigger holes. So in the end, it's mainly about what you're looking for. I hope the comparison pictures help!

Tough enough to stand up to some big rocks
I've been using this to help clear out rocks and stones from my garden. At first, I thought it was over-engineered, but by the time I put a couple of hundred pounds of soil and rock through it, I realized why it was engineered as well as it is. If you've got a tough job like mine, removing hundreds of pounds of rock from your garden, then this is exactly what you need. Don't go cheap!
